Abstract

Following the recommendation of the Advisory Committee on  Weather Control, created by Congress in 1953, Public Law 85-510  of July 11, 1958, directed the NSF "To initiate and support a program of study, research and evaluation in the field of weather modification". A new program in weather modification was promptly established at NSF with FY 59 expenditures in excess of one million dollars.
