As we move ahead into this decade, cumulus clouds may assume a new and exciting role in our search for source of supplemental water in the atmosphere. The roots of serious cloud seeding programs found their origin in winter orographic clouds, particularly in the mountain areas of the western United States. The continuing applications programs have provided data for evaluations which strongly suggest positive results. But summer cumulus clouds over many areas of the world will certainly be one of the new generation of important investigations during the 1980’s.  Atmospherics Incorporated photograph by:  Thomas J.
